Silent Alarm
Bloc Party
2005
This was probably the biggest garage-rock revival band I hadn't heard before, and I can't say I was too blown away by it. Feels like it was the weakest of it's generation. I enjoyed the album's feel but I felt that it would have benefited from a more energetic vibe opposed to it's more sedated tunes.
Suffered from the ‘Manic Street Preachers’ problem in that a majority of the lyrics were unintelligible. The singles are solid whilst listening but my ability to recall them afterwards is limited. This all made for a strange listening experience because I enjoyed the music, for the most part, and it’s coherent as an album.
