I think this album has a lot of personality that shines through it. I enjoyed it, but as I often feel when an obscurer album from a well known artist finds its way onto this website, there’s a reason why it wasn’t more successful that reveals itself before the end of the record. In this case I can only say it’s just missing a spark to unite around that can clearly demonstrate the potential of this sound. In fairness, I tend to weight Bowie quite low relative to the others

Very groovy as to be expected from Bowie. Interesting listen with a good sound the whole way through. I think it's maybe not as up there as some other of Bowie's records but admittedly it is a high bar.

Music like this i help feels contextualise low ratings like the rating for yesterdays album of the day “10,000 maniacs”. While i didn’t love every track on this album it all felt curated, deliberate, worthwhile and at the very least evocative of something. You can very much feel the brian eno touch on this album, good listen.

The end of a long journey of self-discovery for Bowie. The first half is reflective, mulling over his personal troubles that coincided with his Thin White Duke persona as well as his journey across the world to find the identity he feels most comfortable with. Then, in the second half, he regains that sense of self he was seeking and that reflection devolves into liquid Bowie, best exemplified by the album's biggest song Boys Keep Swinging.
