What Happened To The Heart?
Aurora (16)
2024
Seems like AURORA does no wrong. There's so much strong about this record, but it goes without saying that the backbone of what makes her records special is her vocals. The range on this album really impresses me and AURORA continues to deliver quiet and heartfelt songs as well as shivering, giant performances. The only thing to really look at is the length - until I look for a track that could be cut and I can't find one.
There must be something in the water in Scandanvia. This was a really fantastic listen. It felt like it perfectly balanced the line between the strongest parts of modern pop (such as Olivia Rodrigo, Billie Eilish and good Dua Lipa) and the more experimental classics (Kate Bush, the Cranberries, Bjork). It goes from energetic to contemplative at the drop of a hat, but it's continously dreamy tone prevents it from feeling like it's giving you whiplash.
Wow. Really impressive record. Struggling to capture why but I think itβs the scale, and the range of emotions and sounds. Itβs probably slightly long but it certainly stood out to me.
