Blue Is The Colour
The Beautiful South
1996
Some great highlights with some really quite forgettable tracks in between. Great vocals but I feel that's definitely no searing insight.
While I don't think this was as coherent an album as the other Beautiful South we heard, it was still a great listen. Felt a lot darker, despite the more jovial tone of a lot of it's instrumentals. Rotterdam still one of the all-time greats.
Enjoyed this. I think itβs comparable with their eponymous record. I think at times I struggled with the lyrics being quite so on the nose, but overall the impression is charming rather than tedious. Really well balanced record with complimentary singles. The back half of the record got better too
