Take away the lyrics, which already didn't stand out much to me, and you're really just left with the same song repeated 10 times.

I find it very hokey when someone says it feels as though a person has 'been here before'. But there aren't many ways as pithy to explain how I feel about Colter Wall. Despite being 30 years old, Wall sounds very much like his voice is from a man thrice his age. There's a warmth to the vocals here that really adds to my enjoyment. It's a mixture of tired and travelled that fits these country songs very well indeed. A surprisingly consistent artist, but I don't think this quite reaches the peaks of his early work.

Found this less interesting than the last Colter Wall album. I don't think country music with a modern twist in its lyrics ever really works.

This type of big hat country music reslly isnt usually my cup of tea but from my limited knowledge this sounds like a pretty solid record. Title track was the standout.

Our second Colter Wall album for AOTD, and perhaps it’s the genre, but I couldn’t remember anything distinctive about the previous record. Memories and Empties is a charming listen, and I found myself smiling at certain lyrics. “I call my ex-wife, tell her how great my life is, and could she drive me home from town”… “I hope the Lord don’t mind 4/4 time”. I want to reward both the lyrics and jolly sound as highly as I can whilst constrained by the fact the record doesn’t strike me as one I will come back to and that I feel doesn’t stand out all that much on the whole.
