I was surprised when I double checked that this record was released in 2000. It has a distinctly retro British rock vibe. I hear lots of Beatles, Kinks, and Bowie in here. In fact, whilst we have hidden ratings, I suspect I will rate this lower than others as a result, particularly Matt and Luke. It’s enjoyable and leans very heavily on the dream pop sound particularly as the album progresses, but I’m not sure it’s stepping into the realm of groundbreaking or novel. Strangely the Spotify intro for this artist says ‘they came up with a sound that is all their own’. Maybe the mix of influences all together, otherwise I don’t see it
